An offensive movie to African Americans opens this summer
This summer a movie will open that will make slavery a punchline….
Yesterday I discovered possibly the worse book/movie plot ever; it irritated and offended me on so many levels I’m having a hard time writing this because I’m so annoyed. If you plan on seeing or reading Abraham Lincoln, Vampire Hunter, please skip this post.
The plot, in short: As a child Abraham Lincoln finds out that not only are vampires real, but that his grandfather and mother were killed by them. He vows to wipe out vampires, and forms an alliance with a good vampire that teaches him how to kill bad ones. For years Lincoln goes around killing vampires one-by-one. Then one day while in the South he sees a slave auction and follows the slave master home. GASP! The master is a vampire and the slaves were bought as food! The only logical next step? Lincoln becomes an abolitionist in hopes of cutting off the food supply of the vampires. He begins a political career by day, and kills vampires at night. A conspiracy ensues where Lincoln uses his powers to end the vampire population’s growth and power by ending slavery–and starting a Civil War…

Why I was happy, not ecstatic, that Zimmerman was arrested
I’m not a negative nelly—I’m a cautious student of history. Like most people around the country I was happy when George Zimmerman was finally taken into custody on Wednesday. Happy, not ecstatic. My husband, some friends and some twitter followers were confused when I didn’t echo their triumphant shouts that “Justice had been served” for Trayvon Martin and his family. So who is this KONY guy anyway?
So there has been alot of stirrings about Joseph Kony, and the Invisible Children, on the web.Who Is Kony? Joseph Kony is a war lord from Uganda. He is the head of the Lord’s Resistance Army, and one of the most wanted criminal by the International Criminal Court. His charges include murder, kidnapping, sex slavery, and other crimes against humanity.
Who are the Invisible Children? Technically the “invisible children” are the thousands of children that have been kidnapped by Kony over the years, forced to become sex slaves, or soldiers (sometimes forced to kill their own parents before leaving their village). The organization called Invisible Children was started some years ago, and is the force behind the viral video that has caused all the stir (posted below). Some critics of the nonprofit organization have questioned the use of it’s funds over the years. However, unquestionable, the organization has done more in the last few weeks to shed light on an often over looked subject in world events.
What is the goal of the Invisible Children? The organization says that it’s goal is to make Kony famous….

We would like to think that the age of racism is over. However every now and then something happens that makes you realize that unfortunately that isn’t the case. On Feburary 26, 2012 in sunny Florida something happened that has shaken up sleeping society.
The facts, as known by the public
On Feburary 26th at sunset in a gated community, 17-year-old Treyvon Martin was returning to his father’s home after going to the store convience store. Neighborhood watch volunteer George Zimmerman was on patrol, carrying his liscened firearm. On seeing the hooded teenager, Zimmerman called 9-1-1 to report a suspicious person. Though directly instructed by the operator to wait for the police, Zimmerman approached Martin, and after a short exchange shot the teenager dead.
